Community Part 3: A Caring Community ()

Pastor Billy NewhousePastor Billy Newhouse, December 2, 2012
Part of the Community series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

What’s so difficult about this story for me, isn't it that this is one of the primary purposes of the local church—to bear one another’s burdens; to restore others to the Lord in gentleness (Galatians 6:1-2). We are called to go after the lost sheep; to bring back the lost son and go after the unrepentant sinner. To me, this is like someone bleeding to death in a hospital and yet not letting the doctors know. Or, the doctors are too busy to help. How important is it that we be a community that cares for one another? And how does that care/love for one another translate into care for the lost who are outside looking in? Is mutual care for one another a bonus or icing on the cake to church life, or is it more foundational? How are you caring for those in the flock? How are you caring for those outside of the flock?
