My First Visit

We recognize that we can’t convey every detail that occurs on Sunday mornings at our church, but we hope this gives you a helpful summary of what you can expect on any given Sunday at Baptist Church of the Redeemer.

We meet on the campus of Houston Baptist University. We have Sunday school classes that begin at 9:15 AM for all ages. Our adult and children’s classes meet in the Hinton Center, adjacent to Belin Chapel. We offer classes for adults, and children from between the ages of 4 and 16. We also have a nursery for babies and a toddler class for children between the ages of 1 ½ and 3 during the Sunday school hour that meets in the foyer of Belin Chapel, in McNair Hall.

Our worship service begins at 10:30 AM in Belin Chapel. Our service is made up of songs (a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs), Old and New Testament readings, prayers, and a sermon. We typically preach through entire books of the Bible in an expositional manner. Our hope is that each service is Spirit-led, God-centered, and Christ-exalting. We also take the Lord’s Supper every Sunday and we invite all baptized believers in Jesus who are in good standing with the God’s church to participate with us.

During the service you are welcome to keep your children with you or take advantage of our nursery for children 3 & under. We also offer “Children’s Church” for children between the ages of 4 – 7 during the sermon. We leave the decision to the parents on whether or not they send their kids to the nursery or “Children’s Church” or whether they stay in the chapel for the service. Children’s Church meets just outside of Belin, in McNair Hall.

We don’t have a dress code and invite you to dress comfortably. Some of our folks will be dressed in slacks/dress shirts and dresses and others will be dressed in jeans and tennis shoes.

Thank you for stopping by our website and we hope you join us for worship on Sunday mornings. At Baptist Church of the Redeemer you won’t find the perfect church and you won’t find perfect people, but our hope is that you will find a healthy church filled with genuine followers of Christ seeking to grow together in godliness as we worship the one true King.
