Joe Rowan

Joe was born in a small college town in South Dakota in 1976. Realizing the importance, his family moved to Texas as quickly as they could, finally settling in Houston in 1983. Joe was not raised in a believing family and rarely attended church. At the age 18, shortly after high school graduation, God revealed Himself to Joe through a video called “Hell’s Bells,” which tried to demonstrate the Devil’s influence in secular music. While this video fell short in many ways, it quoted part of the verse John 10:10 (“I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.” ESV). Through this half of a verse, God revealed to Joe that he was merely existing, but not truly living. Joe realized he was no more alive than a common table, so he begged for God to give him life. Since that day, Joe has given his life over to Christ, who already owned his life from the beginning.

Joe has attended Baptist Church of the Redeemer, since the beginning in 2005, back when it was still called Faith Family Fellowship. Over the years, Joe has served BCR in a variety of ways, such as teacher, praise band, sound, finance, and other forms of logistics that are asked of him. Joe served as a youth pastor for several churches before joining BCR.

Joe married his wife Jill in 2008. They have two boys, Aaron and Elijah. Joe graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2005 with a Diploma in Theology and again in 2009 with a Masters of Divinity. He currently works as General Manager and Chief Operations Officer at Sabre Electric Company.
